Images and text reproduced on this website that were originally published before 1922 are believed to be public domain, however no warranty is given. The ancient artists' names are unknown. The image file name contains the subject and 19th century artist, where known.
Most of the text material has been extensively edited. Original, unedited copies of the old texts are on the web. Many of the images have been sharpened and cropped. Credit and links to this website are appreciated.
